Tuesday March 15, a few BSTA members volunteered to serve a meal at the women’s shelter Rosie’s Place. Rosie’s Place is the first women’s shelter in the United States. Their mission is “to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives”. The BSTA underwrote the meal and these ladies came together to lend a hand. We were there from 4-7:30 where we served & cleaned up for the meal of: soup, salad, chicken stir-fry & dessert. It was a very rewarding experience and we all were very impressed by the work the people at Rosie’s do to help women. We all agreed that we’d like to go back.
There were 10 volunteers from 9 different firms: ITG, RBC Global Asset Management, Essex Investments, Stephens, Fidelity, ConvergEx, Aqua, OliveTree Financial, & SunLife.
